Discovery sources in Opportunities → Sources & settings find public conversations that indicate demand, questions, competitor interest, or content opportunities.

Sources

A site monitor can collect signals from Reddit through ScrapeCreators or Brave Search, Quora, Bluesky, LinkedIn company-page engagement, and web search. Enable only the sources you use and configure source-specific queries, freshness, minimum score, and response mode.

For Bluesky, use one query per line. Balanced double quotes match an exact phrase, such as "text expander"; OR outside quotes combines alternatives. Image alt text is included in matching. Under Published within, enter a whole number of days, or 0 for any time. Unset Bluesky monitors default to 31 days. Existing custom windows remain unchanged until replaced. The same window controls discovery and automatic reply eligibility.

Quora and Web also have Published within beside Min score: enter a whole number of days, or 0 for any time. The selected range applies to every search, including Quora's first scan. 0 removes the date filter.

Each scan checks recent posts and continues older search pages within the selected window, using saved progress and bounded requests. Changing a query or its window resets the affected search progress. Provider pagination may limit available results. Previously age-expired replies are reconsidered against current settings and score thresholds; manual dismissals and delivered replies stay unchanged. Automatic replies retain their human-paced delivery schedule.

Required and excluded terms keep broad queries focused. Reply and blog guidelines give the scoring and drafting steps product-specific context.

Review Signals

The unified Opportunities inbox groups evidence with recommended actions. Existing Social deep links remain supported. Review new signals before marking them queued, scheduled, drafted, replied, failed, or dismissed.

Depending on the source and configured integrations, a signal can become:

• A growth opportunity or content draft
• A Todoist task
• A Ghost draft
• A Bluesky or LinkedIn reply
• A competitor-signal email

LinkedIn can also receive supported company-page comments and mentions through its engagement webhook.

Scheduling and Credentials

Reddit, Quora, and general web queries run at most once every 24 hours. Bluesky retains its two-hour cadence; LinkedIn engagement behavior is unchanged. Source credentials and publishing connections are stored per site under Settings > Integrations. Current integrations include LinkedIn, Bluesky, Todoist, and Ghost.

Start with manual review. Enable automated actions only after queries, scoring thresholds, and output guidelines consistently produce safe results.

Tune Sources Before Expanding Coverage

Start with a few queries that describe the customer's problem in the language they use. Include product or competitor terms only when they help distinguish useful conversations from unrelated mentions. Review the first signals and adjust required or excluded terms when a query repeatedly finds the wrong context.

Read the original discussion before approving an action. A high score identifies a candidate for review; it does not establish that a reply belongs in the conversation. Check freshness, the author's question, and the site's response guidelines before using a generated draft.

Keep the destination clear when choosing an action. A content opportunity, a review task, and a public reply have different outcomes. Confirm that the selected site's integration is the intended account before publishing. Review failed actions for connection or source issues before trying again, and refine the monitor before enabling broader automation.

Search costs and query yield

Identical Brave searches reuse a 24-hour cache, including empty results. The cache is isolated by tenant and site and includes the complete search parameters and credential identity. Concurrent identical requests share one provider request. “Run now” respects query eligibility and the cache; it does not force another paid search.

Monitor health shows each query’s next check, actual outbound requests, cache hits, new signals, useful signals, and useful signals per request. Useful means a newly discovered signal that passes finalized semantic scoring. Scoring still in progress is shown as pending, not counted as an empty search. After three searches with no useful new signals, a query runs every three days; after six, every seven days. A useful result restores daily checking. Provider failures do not lower query yield. Cached results do not count as new paid searches.

Competitor page changes

Known competitor homepages, pricing pages, and changelog/release pages are crawled daily, up to 20 pages per competitor. The first successful crawl establishes a baseline without an alert. Later successful crawls compare extracted content with the previous Typesense snapshot. Relevant changes enter the existing competitor-signal review and action flow with before/after evidence. Whitespace and extraction noise do not trigger comparisons.

Competitor snapshots are isolated from customer-facing knowledge and widget search. Failed or incomplete crawls preserve the previous baseline and display an error. A missing page never establishes that a competitor shut down. Pages above 100 KB of extracted text or comparisons above 20,000 characters are reported as errors instead of sending oversized content to AI. Pending comparisons survive indexing failures, and retries reuse the same change identity.

Brave competitor discovery runs weekly to find new pages and third-party mentions. Crawl failures do not automatically trigger extra Brave requests. Removing a competitor stops its checks and removes its snapshots while preserving historical signals. These controls reduce request volume; they are not a hard spending cap.

Reddit discovery and search previews

Open Project Settings → Integrations → ScrapeCreators, enter your API key, and save integrations. The key is encrypted and never returned to the browser. Leave the field blank on later saves to keep it. Each project has its own key.

Integration settings show only the API key and its configured status. Configure search queries and publication windows in Opportunities → Sources & settings → Monitor settings. Use double quotes for phrase searches such as "text expander"; unquoted words can produce broad matches. The diagnostic search-preview API remains available, but its test controls are hidden from Settings.

Reddit monitors use ScrapeCreators when the project has a key; otherwise they use Brave Search. A ScrapeCreators failure is reported rather than silently switching providers. ScrapeCreators searches posts newest first, follows up to five pages per query, and stops when results are older than the selected window. The scan reports undated exclusions and pagination limits. Existing Reddit post identities remain unchanged, preventing duplicates when switching providers.

Publication windows and review-only results

Reddit defaults to 30 days. Reddit, Quora, Bluesky, and Web publication controls accept whole numbers with a days suffix. Enter 0 for any time. Saved legacy custom windows stay intact until you replace them with a number. Reddit excludes undated results when a bounded window is selected.

Choose Show results to score matches and send qualifying records to Opportunities → Inbox for manual review. The configured minimum score still applies. This action does not automatically generate drafts, publish, reply, create tasks, or accept articles—even when article acceptance is automatic elsewhere. Explicit existing action settings are preserved; new or unset actions default to Show results.

Scan diagnostics distinguish failures from skipped work. Brave searches may wait for a query's scheduled retry after a previous search or low-yield backoff. Missing queries require configuration rather than another immediate scan.

If Reddit scoring fails in Show results mode, the next monitor scan retries a bounded batch of stored results within the selected publication window. You do not need to delete and rediscover them. Manual dismissals and accepted actions remain unchanged.
